About The Founder

The Founder

The foundation for tropical health and environmental assessment was founded in 2015 by Professor Obadiah Elkanah Sambo.

Dr Elkanah Sambo is a native of Jen in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State, but was born and raised in Tunga Ladan, a Jenjo Community. He attended Federal University of Technolog Yola, where he obtained a BSc (Hons) degree in zoology, University of Calabar where he came out with post graduate diploma in Education; University of Jos where he bagged MSc degree in Applied Entomology and Parasitology and Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University where he obtained a PhD degree in public Health Parasitology.

The Vision for establishing a foundation was received on the course of a doctoral research project on a Tropical Disease of Public health Importance that afflicts a larger proportion of individuals in Northern Taraba State. The quest to curb the transmission of the diseases and the to promote healthy life style and advocate to the society, led to the emergence of the Foundation for Tropical Health and Environmental Assessment.

Dr Obadiah Elkanah Sambo is currently the Principal coordinating investigator Malaria Vector Surveillance Project of the Federal Ministry of Health, Taraba State (from 2020 till date); He is also the Principal Investigator for Anti-Microbial Stewardship Project in FCT Abuja, Taraba, Adamawa, Gombe, Bauchi and Benue States of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; He is also currently the Dean Faculty of Sciences, Taraba State University.
